Evening in downtown GreensboroThe Greensboro area was the site of a Revolutionary War battle in 1781 and named for General Nathaniel Greene who defeated Lord Cornwallis and the British Army during the battle for the Guilford Courthouse.

Greensboro is the largest city in the Triad with a population nearing 241,000. It is a prospering business community which has diversified to include banks, healthcare, schools, and computer and information technology. The Piedmont Triad International Airport is expanding with the addition of Fed Ex air cargo hub (to open in 2009) and HondaJet corporate headquarters and production facility.

Greensboro is home to many opportunities for activity including participating in outdoor recreation or watching sports events. There are also many arts and cultural events to enjoy.

NewBridge Bank Park is in the heart of Greensboro and home to the Greensboro Grasshoppers baseball team who play approximately 70 homes games between April and September each year.

Greensboro is proud of its arts and hosts many yearly productions through Greensboro Ballet, Greensboro Opera Company and Greensboro Symphony Orchestra as well as the venue at the Greensboro Coliseum.
